Pastor Jeff Dahlin

(Lead Pastor)

Pastor Jeff has been the lead Pastor at Praise Community Church from inception in June of 2003. Prior to serving at Praise Community Church, Pastor Jeff served for eight years in a mainline denominational church. Jeff and his wife Jani both have a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. Prior to entering the seminary, Jeff taught for four years in the Davenport Community School system. Jeff’s passions are preaching, teaching, and hospitality. His vision for the church is to equip the people in the congregation to recognize their spiritual gifts, nurture those gifts, empower them to disciple those in the church, and then to reach out and evangelize the un-churched. Jeff’s  hobbies are cooking, reading, stained glass art, and hunting.

 

Pastor Jani Dahlin

(Discipleship Pastor)

Pastor Jani completed her Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1994 and served in full-time ministry for five years before taking a leave to be at home with what would eventually become a family of six children. In 2011 she returned to pastoral ministry in the church taking the position at PCC as Pastor of Discipleship as well as filling a number of administrative needs in the church.  Since 2014 she has had a ministry at the jail with the women.  In May of 2016, along with other women from the community, launched “Living Free” ministries, offering care and support for women exiting incarceration, addictions, and other forms of spiritual bondage.  


 

Pastor Mark Hicks 

(Associate & Youth Pastor)

Associate Pastor Mark and his wife, Cassie, have been part of PCC since the inception of the church and have been part of the pastoral staff since January 1, 2010. 

Mark and Cassie’s ministry includes First Place Youth Ministry which is the 5th-12th grade student ministry at PCC which focuses on teaching the message of “who you are in Christ” and “in Christ we are New Creations”.  They also have a nursing home ministry at the IOOF nursing home and Country Meadow Place.  Pastor Mark also works with area youth Christian Ministry’s, the North Iowa Christian School and the North Iowa Bulls. He also enjoys helping PCC with it’s daily operations.

He has a degree in Journalism-Advertising from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire where he lettered in hockey and was a Two-Time All American.  Pastor Mark earned a diploma from Rhema Correspondance Bible School in 2011.

Cassie’s ministry includes one on one visits with those in need, organizing the Welcome Center at PCC and women’s ministry. Cassie is currently taking on-line classes with Charis Bible College.

Pastor Mark and Cassie have a passion to see the lives of people transformed through God’s saving grace and His living Word.  Their family includes 3 adult children, their spouses and 9 grand children.

 


Pastor Jason Gangwish

 (Worship Pastor)

Pastor Jason and his wife Lesley have been married since May 2004. Jason joined the Praise Community Church staff in December of 2011. They have 5 boys (ages baby to elementary). Jason served part-time as Director of Music in Nebraska for over 7 years and has worked in accounting and supply chain management from 2003- 2011. Lesley has worked part-time at Wayne State College as a speech professor from 2004-2011 and is now a ‘full-time’ wife and mom. Jason and Lesley both have a strong passion and vision to lead others into worship, corporately and personally. Jason’s hobbies are writing, hiking, geo-caching, camping, and photography.

 


 Neva Verhelst

(Children’s Ministry Coordinator)dan and neva

Neva VerHelst has joined the staff July of 2015.  She took on the role of Children’s Ministry Coordinator.  Neva is retired from a teaching career of 30 years where she taught at the Central Springs Community School District.  She has a teaching certificate as a K-6th grade Elementary classroom teacher with  endorsements in PreKindergarten- Kindergarten classroom teacher, and a K-8 grade Reading Teacher. She and her husband, Dan, have attended PCC since September of 2013. Neva has always had a desire to be involved with children’s ministry.   She is excited to embrace this opportunity to work with the children of Praise Community Church.  Her passion is to foster and encourage a lifelong faith in the Lord in the lives of the children of PCC.
